M&S issues update over cyber attack as contactless payment and delivery chaos continues

M&S has issued an update over a cyber attack that has wreaked havoc on contactless payments and deliveries.
The mysterious issue began on Monday - as confused customers were turned away at tills.
They were told the company was making some "small change to our store operations" following an IT outage - that would temporarily affect contactless payments as well as click-and-collect orders.
In an update, shared to Instagram this evening, an M&S spokesperson wrote: "We promised to keep you informed about the cyber incident that has led to disruption to some services.
"You can continue to shop in our stores, on our website and through our app but there may be some changes which may inconvenience you over the coming days.
"In particular, we are currently not processing contactless payments and there is disruption to the collection of Click and Collect orders in our stores.

Furious shoppers slammed the company earlier this week, with one writing: "I wish I’d known this before I travelled to return and collect a parcel and buy 2 gift cards for birthdays.
"Please inform us when everything is back up and running."
Meanwhile, M&S chief exec Stuart Machin took to social media to explain the cause of the issue.
He wrote: "I'm writing to you to let you know that over the last few days M&S has been managing a cyber incident.
"To protect you and the business, it was necessary to temporarily make some small changes to our store operations, and I am sincerely sorry if you experiences any inconvenience.
"Importantly, our stores remain open, and our website and App are operating as normal.
"There is no need for you to take any action at this time and if the situation changes, we will let you know."
Despite widespread frustration, some customers thanked the CEO for keeping them informed.
