Tottenham’s 2-0 win away at Manchester City was the first major online betting shock of the new Premier League season and there is plenty for football spread betting punters to enjoy this week. We preview the pick of the midweek action alongside the US Open tennis and midweek racing in today’s betting blog.

The below prices are indicative and may be subject to fluctuation

FOOTBALL

Premier League sides begin to enter the League Cup this weekend, and the pick of the draw is probably Manchester United’s trip to the seaside for a clash with Grimsby Town. The Red Devils will be looking to get their first win of the season and with a fixed odds price of 1/7 and a Supremacy spread that is 2.25-2.45 in their favour, they should have very few issues in despatching their League 2 opponents.

Tonight’s main televised match sees Leeds make the short trip south for a Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday. With a boycott on the cards, it may well be an unusual atmosphere at the famous old ground, with Leeds priced at 1/6 to win in 900 minutes. We have some boosted markets as new man Noah Okafor is boosted from 21/20 to 6/5 to score any time for the Whites, and Dan James to score two or more was 7/1 but is now 17/2.

Also in action this evening are Celtic, who kick-off at 17:45 away to Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan. A 0-0 draw in the first leg was a disappointing result for the Bhoys, but they are 3/5 to get a win this evening, which would secure passage through to the league phase of the Champions League. Their cross-city rivals Rangers are up against it having lost 3-1 at home against Club Brugge last week. Russel Martin’s side are 11/1 to cover a -1 handicap, a result which would at the very least force extra time in Belgium.

In the Conference League, Linfield host Shelbourne with the Dubliners 3-1 up from the first leg. Crystal Palace are 4/9 to win away at Fredrikstad and in the Europa League, Aberdeen are 3/1 to win away in Romania after drawing 2-2 with FCSB in the Granite City last week.

TENNIS – US OPEN

The final Grand Slam of the year is here, and Jack Draper is an 18/1 shot to land the title having beaten Federico Gomez in the first round last night. The main threats on the men’s side of the draw are Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz who are priced up at 11/10 and 9/5 respectively.

The women’s side of the draw is also dominated by two titans, with Eastern European duo Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka dominating the betting. Sabalenka is 13/5 to defend her title, having also made the final in 2023 where she was beaten by Coco Gauff. Gauff is 8/1 to lift the title at Flushing Meadows this year, with 2022 champion Swiatek 9/4 to win.

We will have all of the action covered on site, with our famous tennis spread betting markets like Match Supremacy and X-Courts ready to trade across the tournament.

RACING – MIDWEEK RACING

It is Solario Stakes weekend at Sandown, but before then there is plenty of racing across the country. The highlight of the midweek comes on Thursday when the ITV cameras will be at Southwell for the Racing League. It is the sixth week of the season with the London and South East team currently leading the way at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, there are two meetings from Musselburgh with further action from Thirsk, Chepstow, Navan, and Down Royal to look forward to. As ever, we will have a full range of horse racing spread betting markets for punters to trade, alongside fixed odds specials like Lengthen Your Odds.
