Emmerdale slammed with Ofcom complaints after April, 15, is kidnapped and thrown over a ledge in violent scenes

EMMERDALE has been slammed with Ofcom complaints from furious viewers after the recent April Windsor storyline.
Fans were left raging after shocking Emmerdale scenes saw fifteen-year-old April, played by Amelia Flanagan, was violently kidnapped.
Bad boy Ross Barton [] recently returned to the village and has been taking part in illegal fights organised by boxing promoter Jade [Twinnie Lee-Moore].
After Jade’s money from the latest fight was stolen, she believed Ross was responsible and kidnapped April in revenge.
Shock scenes saw Jade’s thugs hang April over the edge of a multi-storey carpark - the same location where her mum Donna [Verity Rushworth] tragically took her own life 10 years ago.
Viewers were so outraged that they lodged 61 complaints with broadcasting regulator Ofcom.
An Ofcom spokesperson said "complainants objected to a storyline involving child abduction and violence”.
Fans have also threatened to boycott the show after being left so upset by the storyline.
One wrote on social media: “I never complain about soaps but tonight was totally inappropriate.
“Who in their right mind thought it would be fitting to show a young, underage child being dangled over a wall by a grown man?
"It was also mental and physical torture she was enduring. Is this how low soaps have fallen?”
Another agreed: “That was inappropriate and it made me cringe. Shame on the writers and producers.”
A third was concerned at how prolonged it was: “Yes, it was cruel and also went on far too long.”
Earlier this year Emmerdale was hit by Ofcom complaints after fans were left furious when Belle Dingle's dog was killed in a vicious attack.
